Anime Squadron Game Modes: Meta Strategy & Team Comps

Every mode in Update 0.5 is a completely different beast. If you bring a slow wave-clear team to a Boss fight, you're going to get wiped. Here is the blunt truth about how every mode works and how to beat them without losing your mind. Before start, you can also check the tier list we made for this game.

Waves Mode

Tests Your Carry Unit

The Blunt Reality: This mode is a brutal marathon. If your main AoE (Area of Effect) units don't have enough raw damage to clean up the trash mobs, you'll get overwhelmed in the late game.

Winning Strategy: Put 90% of your focus on your hyper-carry. If you are struggling in the early game or short on cash to summon better units, grab the latest free rewards from our Anime Squadron Codes page first. Then, check out our Traits Tier List to lock in the biggest damage multipliers before pushing into high waves.

Bosses Mode

Tests Your Burst Damage

The Blunt Reality: Bosses have ridiculous health pools and one-shot mechanics. High damage-over-time means nothing if you can't melt the boss before they clear your entire board. You need single-target delete power.

Winning Strategy: Bench your slow utility units. You need high active ability multipliers and traits that pump up raw crit or attack speed. If your current traits are slacking, read our Reroll Guide to learn how to fix your stats and lock in Godly traits fast without burning all your resources.

Co-op Mode

Tests Your Role Splitting

The Blunt Reality: If everyone in a 3-player lobby tries to drop a greedy money-farm and a main carry at the same time, you will all lose by wave 10. Co-op is about teamwork, not trying to be a solo hero.

Winning Strategy: Talk to your teammates before the match starts and split the roles. Player 1 drops early-game economy and support buffs, Player 2 handles crowd control and freezes, and Player 3 drops the cracked hyper-carry to clean up.

Ranked Mode

Wait for Stable Launch Data

The Blunt Reality: Do not waste your rare cubes or shards min-maxing a team specifically for leaderboards right now. The meta shifts heavily during the launch week, and things get buffed or nerfed constantly.

Winning Strategy: Sit tight, hoard your materials, and let the whales test the bugs. We will update the Ranked meta strategy right here the second the global data stabilizes.

Game Modes FAQ: Stop Throwing Your Matches

Q: I keep dying on Wave 30+ in Waves Mode. How do I break through?

A: You aren't scaling your money fast enough, or your Carry is weak. Waves mode is an economy race. If you aren't maxing out your money-generating units (like Bulma) in the first 10 waves, you won't have the cash to upgrade your heavy hitters later. If your economy is fine but you still lose, your main damage dealer lacks scaling.

Q: Why am I doing zero damage to the Guild/World Boss?

A: Because you are bringing Wave-Clear units to a Burst fight. Bosses have high defense and massive HP pools. Units that hit the whole map but do low single-target damage are useless here. You need "Boss Killers"β€”units with high base crit and single-target skills. If your team is right but the damage is still low, you likely need to fix your sub-stats.

Q: Is it worth playing Co-op mode with random players (Public Lobbies)?

A: Only if you are prepared to carry them. Public lobbies are chaotic. Most random players will spam money farms and leak early-game mobs, causing an instant defeat. If you want to play with randoms, bring a flexible team that can handle both early-game defense and late-game damage. If you want high-wave clears, go to the official Discord and find a dedicated team where you can actually split your roles properly.

Q: When should I start grinding Ranked Mode?

A: Don't touch it until your main team is fully optimized. Ranked mode is for end-game players and whales who have perfect units, perfect levels, and perfect traits. Entering Ranked with halfway-built characters is a waste of time. Focus on clearing Waves and Bosses first to stockpile your shards and cubes, and only jump into Ranked once you have a fully complete, meta-relevant squad.
